When a new game or an application that requires better hardware comes out, you ask yourself if your computer can handle it. A benchmark application will help you answer this question. If you are looking for such a tool, you should consider trying CrystalMark. It is designed to test the hardware of your computer and to provide a wide range of information about your system and its critical files.

The software's components come in a ZIP archive and you just need to unpack them, without going through an installation process. The unpacked application uses roughly 4 and a half MB of disk space. The fact that it does not need to be installed and that it is lightweight means that CrystalMark is portable, so you can take it with you and run it on any machine.

CrystalMark places a huge amount of information at your disposal. It is organized on different tabs, making it more comfortable when looking for a specific piece of information. You can look up basic information about your computer and the operating system, total and available memory, BIOS and motherboard information, various details about your CPU and much more.

You may perform a series of tests on the first tab. The software gives you the possibility of running all tests, one after another, by clicking one button. Alternatively, you can run any test, in any order you want. It is possible to test your CPU (ALU and FPU), memory, hard drive and perform various tests on your graphics card.

Each test is started with a separate button and when it is done, a score will be displayed next to this button. Detailed information, for each test, can be found on the same page. When your tests are complete, you can export the results as a file on the hard drive. CrystalMark lets you copy, save or preview detailed reports, in HTML or plain text format.

Pros

You can perform a good number of tests on important pieces of hardware. The software provides you with vast amount of information about your computer and the operating system. Additionally, you can export detailed reports as plain text or HTML files.

Cons

The application does not present any serious disadvantages. CrystalMark can provide you with a large amount of information, regarding your system and your hardware's capabilities.
